With total student loan debt approaching $1.2 trillion nationally, it now exceeds all other forms of U.S. consumer debt. Despite its ability to curtail economic growth, student loan debt provides the fewest consumer protections than any other type of debt. Come learn the types of problems student loan borrowers face, current limitations in combatting those problems, and borrowers' rights. Specifically, this program will address:
  • Nuts and bolts of student loans
  • Student loan consumer protections
  • Abuses in the student loan industry
  • Student loans in the for-profit schools context
