Career Advancement Program

The Career Advancement Program (CAP) is designed to help members of all experience levels and backgrounds move forward in their careers. This special program features longtime Chicago lawyer and career advancement professional Kathy Morris of Under Advisement, Ltd. Kathy has been helping lawyers of all skill levels and practice areas navigate the Chicago legal job market for decades. 

The CAP program provides:
  • Complimentary and low cost in-person and webcast seminars. See calendar of events for upcoming and on demand programs. 
  • Complimentary one-on-one career counseling sessions at the CBA.
  • Helpful on-demand videos on the CBA's YouTube Channel.
  • Special programming at the CBA's annual membership week in May.

 

About Kathy:

Kathy Morris is the featured career counselor at the center of the Chicago Bar Association’s multi-dimensional Career Advancement Program (CAP).

After handling criminal cases in courtrooms from Massachusetts to Hawaii and directing the Career Services office at Northwestern Law School, where she also was a faculty member over the years teaching legal ethics, Kathy opened Under Advisement, Ltd. in 1988 to help lawyers and law students find jobs and enjoy satisfying careers. She also created a Career Resource Center for the ABA in 2000 and the ABA Legal Career Central in 2015.
 
Kathy is also an innovator in attorney professional development, most recently creating a nationwide lawyer training platform for Sidley. She founded the Chicago Law Firm Training Consortium and was a charter Board Member of the Professional Development Consortium. She is a frequent speaker, author, and a 2024 member of the Forbes Coaches Council.
